FARM INFORMATION

Animal Feeding

Every morning except Sunday’s we do feeding sessions at 9am, with the goats, alpacas, chickens, ducks and pigs.
This is hugely popular and really good fun to get up close and personal with all of our furry friends, big and small!

Beach

Who can beat having a beach right on your doorstep, well us! We have a PRIVATE beach right on our doorstep! When the tide is out, enjoy the beautiful sandy beach, where you can walk round to Watermouth Harbour, and don’t worry if the tide comes back in whilst your there you can take the coastal path all the way back! We also have a lock up at the beach where you can keep your belongings. You are welcome to swim, fish, canoe and do whatever you please but remember the sea takes no prisoners so always be safe, as we cannot take any liability!

Access to the beach is through our goat field, and then through the sheep field. There is no solid footpath. It is on a slight decline to the beach and incline from the beach but is easily managable by most. Please take a look at our gallery to see pictures of this.

Acres of land

Not only are we positioned on the South West Coastal Path, we also have 35 acres of headland and woodland that you are welcome to walk around and explore. The sheep and alpacas roam free and the views you can encounter from the tops of our hills are breathtaking! We also have an old “Look Out” which is a cosy little building to watch over the sea!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Don't forget to bring you wellies!!!!!!! Suitable clothing and footwear for animal feeding and exploring the land is a must when on a farm

Pre-arrival

Our location and directions to the Farm are on the ‘Contact Us’ page of our website.

National Express coaches run to Ilfracombe in the summer months and to Barnstaple throughout the year.
The nearest station is Barnstaple, however if travelling from London, Birmingham, Bristol (or anywhere outside the South West) and meeting people already in the area who have a car, it is a much shorter train journey to travel to Tiverton Parkway and be met by car.
The drive from Widmouth Farm to Tiverton Parkway takes about 75 minutes.
There are buses and taxis between Barnstaple and Ilfracombe
We are on the Bus Route between Ilfracombe and Combe Martin but about half a mile from the nearest stop.
There are NO PAVEMENTS on the A399, it is a windy country road and it is NOT SAFE to walk on this road. It is safer, if carrying luggage, to get a taxi from Ilfracombe.
The south west coastal footpath runs between Ilfracombe and Combe Martin, and across the seaward border of our land, with 2 access points. However, this is very hilly and can be muddy and is not suitable if carrying more than a rucksack.
For up-to-date information on Public Transport (timetables etc.) please contact Ilfracombe

Arrival

Check in is from 4pm. Instructions for accessing your cottage will be giving in your booking confirmation pack.
We try to greet guests personally on arrival, however sometimes this can be difficult, which is why we make it as easy as possible to access your cottage and we shall see you when we can.
Special arrangements can be made for other days or earlier check in depending on how busy we are and the time of year. This MUST be agreed by us prior to arrival.
Although check in time is 4pm, you are welcome to come earlier and enjoy the farmland and beach until your acccomodation is ready.

Departure

Checkout time is strictly 10am to allow our cleaners enough time to change over for our next guests, but you are still welcome to enjoy the farmland and beach as long as your cars are removed from the parking bays by 2pm.

SERVICES

Utility Room

In here you will find self service laundry facilities plus some children’s toys, DVDs, cleaning equipment should you feel the urge to do housework on your holiday!

Car Parking

We have 15 parking spaces for 11 cottages. None of the parking spaces are more than 50 metres from the cottages.

Each cottage has one named space, as close as possible to the cottage.

WIFI

We do have Wifi in our cottages, however being in a secluded spot and not in a city like you may be used to our wifi speed is much slower, which means streaming etc can be difficult. Sending and receiving emails and messages is fine as well as internet browsing. We are continuously investing in top of the range boosters to improve this but sometimes you may experience intermittency. This is beyond our control. If great/fast wifi is a must then please consider this before booking.
